8 Ways I Use Roses From My Garden

These dark pink roses have been growing in my garden for many years. Their fragrance is incredible, and every summer I look forward to harvesting the petals. Some become rose water, some are dried for tea, and others find their way into homemade beauty recipes.

1. Rose Water

One of the simplest ways I use fresh rose petals is to make rose water. I gently simmer the petals in distilled water until their colour fades, then strain and store the liquid in a glass bottle in the refrigerator.

2. Rose Face Toner

A simple rose toner is one of my favourite summer skincare products. It feels cooling, refreshing, and pairs beautifully with natural oils and balms.

3. Rose-Infused Oil

Rose petals can be infused into carrier oils to create beautiful body oils and skincare treatments. I especially enjoy combining rose-infused oil with rosehip, jojoba, or pomegranate oil.

4. Rose Petal Tea

5. Dried Rose Petals

I dry many of my petals naturally in a shaded area. Once dried, they can be used in teas, bath products, sachets, potpourri, and DIY beauty projects.

6. Rose Petal Bath

A handful of petals can transform an ordinary bath into a relaxing garden-inspired soak. Fresh or dried petals both work beautifully.

A Few Notes

  • Use only unsprayed roses for teas and skincare recipes.
  • Test homemade skincare products on a small area first.
  • Store dried petals away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Some people may be sensitive to floral ingredients.
