I wasn’t planning to write about this, but this turned out to be the best dry shampoo I’ve made.

Normally, I have to wash my hair every second day because it gets oily quickly. With this, I was able to go up to five days without washing, which honestly surprised me.

I’ve tried different versions over time, but this one worked noticeably better.

Over the years, I’ve adjusted and refined simple formulas like this based on what actually works in real use. These are not random recipes — they’re things I come back to because they consistently perform well.

🛍️ What You Need

Good quality powders make a noticeable difference in how well this blends and absorbs oil.

Final Formula (Balanced + Strong + Invisible)

  • 2 tbsp kaolin clay
  • 1 tbsp green clay
  • 1 tbsp grey clay (bentonite/illite)
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot or tapioca starch
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • tiny pinch cocoa powder or cinnamon
  • optional: 1–2 drops essential oil

What This Gives You

  • strong oil control
  • soft, invisible finish
  • no heavy buildup
  • blends naturally into roots

How to Make

  • Combine all powders in a dry bowl or jar
  • Mix very well (important)
  • Break up any clumps
  • Add tint gradually and mix again
  • Store in a dry container

Goal: very fine, soft powder (like flour)

How I Use It

Best method (for oily hair)

  • Apply lightly to roots before bed
  • Sleep
  • Brush in the morning

You wake up with clean, volumized hair.

Quick daytime use

  • Apply lightly at roots
  • Wait 3–5 minutes
  • Massage and brush out

Adjust If Needed

Too oily still:
→ add more green or grey clay

Too powdery / visible:
→ add more arrowroot or tapioca

Too dry scalp:
→ reduce grey clay slightly

What to Avoid

  • No baking soda
  • Don’t apply too much
  • Don’t use heavy mix every day

Optional Lighter Version

  • 2 tbsp arrowroot or tapioca
  • 1 tbsp kaolin
  • tiny tint

Softer, more natural feel.

Why This One Works

For me, this made a noticeable difference compared to other dry shampoos, especially in how long it keeps the hair looking fresh.
